The holiday season is finally upon us!
That means it's time to bring out the Christmas socks, string up lights and decorate the tree! Although I didn't grow up having many traditions, I'm excited to create some new ones with my husband and pup :) Because I went holiday shopping early this year, I thought it would be fun to do a Christmas themed gift wrap post. If you read the previous washi tape DIY post, you know that I'm not a fan of wrapping paper. Instead, I like using plain craft paper and add my own flair with simple gift accessories like Christmas ornaments, ribbons and foliage. You probably have most of these items lying around the house but if not, you can find an awesome selection at Paper Mart. I especially love the wide two-toned ribbons I got in gold/silver and silver/blush. When you tie a bow, you get a peek of the color underneath making the gift look extra fancy. With the now, tie a Christmas ornament and tuck in a piece of greenery or foliage for a festive touch. Don't forget to add a gift tag, you can download these free watercolor tags in our previous post [here]!
The key is to layer different ribbons to create texture and interest. You can layer thin ribbons on top of thicker ones to add more dimension or mix textured ribbons with twine and tied them together. For a personalized touch, I washi taped holiday photo cards on top of the gift and just let them be seen openly, without an envelope. If the card has a cute design, why not let them be a part of the gift wrap decor? It adds an artsy touch and the receiver will know who the gift is from.
