April Recap - Working at Coachella, Alt Summit & more!

I can’t believe today is the last day of April, which means (cue JT) it’s gonna be MAY!

All jokes aside, April has felt like two months in one - there was so much going on! We got to work with some major brands and I had so many pinch me moments. Before April is officially over, I wanted to do a monthly recap and share some highlights with you all!

  • Alaska Airlines @ Alt Summit

The funny thing is, I almost attended Alt Summit as a guest, but last minute decided not to. Then we were invited by Alaska Airlines to do live art for their private event, so I still got to pop in for the day! The actual live art event was held at The Parker, which is a luxurious hotel in Palm Springs. If you’re ever in the area, I highly recommend checking it out because it is absolutely stunning. Alaska Airlines decked out one of the cabanas and turned it into a spectacular dinner party! We created fun airplane escort cards for the tablescape and did mini portraits for all of the guests.

Personally, this was one of the favorite live art events I’ve done! It’s partly because I was excited to work with Alaska Airlines and partly because I was surrounded by creatives. Alt Summit attracts creatives so the whole vibe was fun and inspiring!

  • Craftcation Conference

The following week, I drove to Ventura to teach at Craftcation, which is a craft/business conference by Dear Handmade Life. I have actually been following Dear Handmade Life for years, so I was super excited when they invited me to teach! It was my very first time being a presenter and I had butterflies in my stomach going into it. Thankfully, all that went away once I stepped into the classroom and I was reminded how much I love teaching. There were a few hiccups with missing materials, but thankfully the classes ended up going well and the students had a great time. After the whole experience, I gained a new respect for presenters and organizers of large events like this. I felt honored to be able to see the backend and it has helped me better prepare for when we host our Modern Creative Conference in July! On another note, I was busy teaching and totally forgot to take any photos except for this selfie :P

  • Rachel Zoe x Zappos @ Coachella

This was a major pinch me moment. We got to do live art for the Zoe Report’s Coachella party! We’ve worked with Rachel Zoe a few times in the past and I was beyond excited when they invited us back for Zoeasis 2019. Instead of doing our traditional bust & up portraits, we did full-body fashion illustrations for Zappos to highlight their shoe line. The building was packed with people, so I kept busy the entire time! I painted for 4 hours and didn’t get up get once. You can imagine how exhausted I was afterwards! Still, it was incredibly rewarding and now I can say I’ve gone to Coachella (kind of but not really lol!)

Same as the Alaska Airlines event, Zoeasis was held at The Parker, but this time, they converted the space into Saint-Tropez. There were a bunch of other brands there like Sephora, Kendra Scott, and many more. It was fun to see all the gorgeous decorations and marketing activations.

Here are some photos from the event below. If you’d like to see more of the action, I have a highlight saved under “Coachella” on Instagram!

Along with these events, I also turned 28 this month! To be honest, it completely slipped my mind, but my friends & family showered me with so much love! On the actual day, we had dinner at one of my favorite restaurants called Bevel in Los Angeles. Throughout the month, loved ones through me few celebrations here and there. I don’t care much about birthdays, but it’s definitely a great excuse to hang out with loved ones!

April has been an amazing month and I hope you all have had a great month as well! Thank you for following along our adventures here at Chasing Linen :) If there are specific things you’d like to see or know more about, comment down below!
