The start of a new year: 24

Hi there!

It has been way too long since my last post but I'm back with exciting news & updates!

As some of your may know, I've been working at Oh Hello Friend for about a year now and I'm happy to say that I've been promoted as their social media specialist! I will be managing their instagram account @ohfshop as well as a new blog. I'll be blogging everything from local events, national holidays, diy projects and more. I've also updated the shop & events section of this blog, so feel free to check it out :)

Now that we're all caught up, I wanted to post about my birthday celebrations that happened this past weekend. It's kind of crazy that I'm already 24 years old! I'm dipping my toes into "mid-twenty" years, which is both surreal and exciting. SO much has happened this past year alone and I'm extremely grateful for every person who was a part of it. For fun, I blogged about 24 things I'm grateful on OHF Blog.

I was so excited about my sunflowers, I didn't notice that the 2 was backwards until after! :P

On the day of my birthday, I was surprised with three bouquets of my favorite sunflowers (my friends know me well) and fruit tart by my coworkers and friends! I was shocked because I had not expected anything and just melted at the sweetness. After work, my chef of a boyfriend made me a home cooked meal consisting of pear pecan salad, sweet potato fries, filet mignon and my favorite moscow mule (with tin cups to match!) After dinner, my best friends surprised me with more sunflowers and an amazing taro & macaroon cake from 85 Degrees.

On Friday, my boyfriend Patrick took me out for a nice dinner out K'ya Bistro Bar in Laguna Beach, which serves delicious American/Mediterranean Tapas-styled cuisine. We stuffed our bellies with bacon & date salad, lobster penne pasta, curry smoked ahi, and chimichurri rib-eye steak. I highly recommend anyone who is looking for a good tapas restaurant to check out this place. They allow you to bring in your own bottle of wine (which is what we did) but charge a $15 corkage fee. You can also visit their rooftop bar above the hotel or enjoy a nice walk along the beach after dinner.

On Saturday, I took the Modern Calligraphy Workshop with Jenna M Rainey of Monvoir, thanks to Oh Hello Friend :) I had so much fun learning all the techniques and brushing up on my calligraphy skills. Afterwards, I got ready and headed out for dinner with friends at one of my favorite Cuban restaurants, Habana in Costa Mesa. If you happen to be around the area, you must try their Salmon a La Parilla, which is a grilled atlantic salmon topped with spicy tomato & green onion cream sauce. It is one of my favorite salmon dishes of all time! For drinks, they have excellent specialty cocktails. My favorite is Buena Vista, Rican Soul and La Tormenta- yum!

Overall, I had a fantastic birthday weekend full of friends, food and celebration. I am extremely thankful for all the people I'm surrounded by and the love poured out into my life, thank you friends :)

Sincerely,

Dianuh
